Disasters can happen at any time and at any place. These tragedies may include floods, typhoons, tsunamis, fires, and others. Most of the times, these events can claim the lives of a lot of people and also damage a lot of properties. Even if there are instruments that can detect the possibility of certain tragedies, people should prepare themselves at all times.

Information on what should be done by people before, during, and after the calamities are typically disseminated by local and national governments. A 3 day survival kit would be one. Individuals should ensure that their kits contain the following things.

The individuals will have to buy bags where they will put their necessities. They have to make sure that they will buy bags which are durable. This way, all their necessities will remain inside the containers and will not fall off from them. They may also have to buy those that are water proof so that their things will not get wet if ever there are heavy rains or floods.

Usually, an evacuation center will not be providing clean water. In this case, he should be bringing his own clean water for him to be quenching his thirst while staying in the said center. He should be bringing one gallon per one day for himself. He should also be storing non perishable food like noodles and canned goods. In the case of the latter, he should be bringing a can opener for him to be eating them.

The person should be bringing his cellphone with him for him to be communicating with other people or government agencies about the situation. He should also be keeping extra batteries and a charger for him to be utilizing his cellphone. Apart from that, he should have a transistor radio for him to be aware of important announcements and events. He must have a flashlight in illuminating his way through the night.

He should also be having duplicates of his personal documents. The documents could be his birth or marriage certificate, insurance policy, passport, or identification card, among others. They will be helping the government in identifying him and providing him with whatever assistance he will be needing.

Even if there are disasters, it is important for them to observe cleanliness so that they will not get sick, especially during typhoons and floods. They may need to carry items for sanitation and hygiene such as wet wipes, alcohol, and toothbrushes, among others. They may also need to carry extra clothes so that they can change into dry ones if ever they get wet from heavy rains.

Medical supplies should also be put in the bags. The supplies could include medications for common illnesses that are experienced by people in evacuation centers such as headaches, stomachaches, and colds. Cotton, band aids, and alcohol are also needed in case wounds, burns, or cuts are caused to them by certain disasters.

They also need multi purpose tools that they can utilize to cut or fix something. They should also have maps with them so that they will know where they will go. The families should plan beforehand on where they will meet up in case these disasters separate them. All members should also know the contact details of important government agencies or persons.
