Doesn't matter who you are or what your station in life is, a good percentage of us are carrying around too many inches and too much body fat that could be a real detriment to your health. The best mantra you could stick to when thinking about a diet is; "if you have body fat, lose it"; that way you can choose a diet or eating plan that will serve your purposes.

The hardest part of a weight loss plan is getting started, and if you are like most of us, trapped in a never ending cycle of "boy that looks good, yum"; to "geez, I have to get working on this body fat and lose it." There is so much on the market today aimed at people who want to lose weight but just can't bring themselves to make the move and get started, so we succumb to the ads and buy the products that never work, simply because we hope against hope that this will be the time that works. You can't do that; you have to start out looking for an eating plan and lifestyle change that will fit with your way of thinking and living so you can stick with it if you intend to lose weight.

Okay, so here you are on the couch again imitating a potato with a bag of popcorn and soda or beer, and watching some slim toned chick extol the virtues of the latest come on for weight loss---a magic pill that grabs all your body fat to lose it fast and sweep it out of your life forever----all you have to do is swallow, don't change anything else about your existence, and the fat will just melt away. Yeah, right. None of these fads work, but people get so desperate at some points in their lives that they will believe anything and fork over the money hoping that this time things will be different. Don't fall for it. There are lots of good things that happen to your body when you follow a balanced, nutritional weight loss plan with exercise; like reduced heart disease, fighting off diabetes, and lots more energy overall.

First things first if you are going to work on body fat and lose it. The main thing before anything else can happen for you, is that you must feel a positive feeling about what it is you are doing, believe in yourself, and develop the motivation to make it happen. Take a look at all those artery-clogging, greasy, fatty, dripping with sugar foods you have been existing on for most of your overweight life, and really look at them as adversaries. They are not a health benefit, but rather things that will eventually kill you if you don't stop the way you are living and eating right now. Make up your mind that, yes, those things are yummy, and yes they make you feel satisfied momentarily; but they are maintaining a fat person that you don't want to be; and it is time to get real with losing weight and leave them in the dust.

A good well balanced eating plan should be one where the nutrition is such that you get something from all the food groups every day with plenty of water to keep your system flushed and working at top capacity. You should develop good sleep habits as well so that your body has time to regenerate every night, and make sure you incorporate some form of exercise to keep your inner fires burning at top rate and your muscles are toned.

Now close your eyes and picture yourself and your mental state; just how much healthy living and lifestyle change can you put up with and stay the course. Emotions run our lives because we are human and we are built that way; so you must take stock of your emotional health as well as your physical, because the two go hand in hand and one must be considered as equally as the other. If you are not ready to make a big change in your way of thinking and your lifestyle so you can work on that body fat and lose it, then any diet plan will not work. You have to do the emotional work first and be ready for the pitfalls that your emotions can throw you into, that trigger your food cravings.

From now on, if you are going to make anything work for you with your body fat and how to lose it; you need to be in control of not only what and when you eat, but also your psyche and your emotions so you know why you eat like you do. Your new way of thinking will be the mantra "Got body fat, lose it" and if you are serious about this and develop a positive way of thinking; you can do anything you put your mind to. Remember not to fall victim to the jerks that are pushing the weight loss gimmicks; just take stock of yourself, find an eating plan that is nutritionally sound, drink lots of water, exercise on a regular basis, and rest with a good night's sleep every night. You will find that getting rid of that body fat is not as hard an undertaking as you thought it would be, and soon you will feel so much better and so energized that you'll wonder why you waited so long to make your new life happen.

The acai berry diet has been accredited with various things, but did you know that one of the claims made on its behalf is that it has the ability to help people sleep? It might sound a bit strange, but the fact of the matter is that it is true. You can add improved sleep to the long list of accolades that the acai diet has been able to accrue over the relatively short period of time that it has been in use in the First World.

It is largely anecdotal and with little scientific backing, but there are a handful of studies out there that show that the acai berry might have something to do with the improved sleep that people get when they are on the diet.

Specifically, there are two things that people claim to get counterpart their sleep when on the acai berry diet. First, they feel as though their sleep is far more restful at night, with relatively few interruptions and periods of waking when compared with what they would normally expect. At the same time, these people are also reporting that they wake up feeling far more refreshed thanks to the acai diet, a fact that does not necessarily follow since people that sleep better at night tend to wake up feeling better in the morning as well.

This particular claim is problematic, only because it is difficult to judge it. Specifically, the problem is in the area of knowing whether the sleep improvements are directly something that can be associated with the present of the acai berry, or rather a positive side effect of the weight loss and better fitness that people tend to have when they go on this particular diet. Even studies that have determined the sleep improvement correlation to be true have trouble with this fact because it is nearly impossible to tell which of those two factors are ultimately responsible for the sleep improvements.

At the end of the day though, it really doesn't matter which of those two cause better sleep. What matters is that the acai berry diet has been tied to a marked improvement in a person's sleep patterns and that is just one more reason why it is a worthwhile diet to try.

I don't know about you, but my wife would be very appreciative if I was learning how to dance Salsa, if you know what I mean.

Ladies who do you think you're fooling when you try not to stare at that couple hitting that perfect one, two, three beat of that Latin music, while doing the Salsa?Both of you try not to let the other see you looking at those beautifully toned legs and tush of that couple on the dance floor.

If you were like me the first time I watch some old classmates doing the Salsa at a class reunion, I said to myself, I need to learn how to dance Salsa.

Here it is coming up on our next reunion and I made good on my promise. Learning how to dance Salsa was not that difficult, once we found the right instructor.

My wife and I didn't want to go to dance classes; we wanted to learn at home. This decision ended up being the best one we made in our endeavor to learn the Salsa.

If we were going to take the time to learn this, we wanted to learn from the best. Luckily we found one of the best that had an instructional DVD on how to dance Salsa.

We decided we would go with someone we had watched train dancers on TV every week, Louis Van Amste and we are glad we did.Louis explains every dance step by step, or as with the Salsa it would be a three step dance. Because the training is with a DVD, you have the option to stop and replay a section as many times as you need, and that really helps.

Once we learned to dance Salsa from Louis's DVD, we were so comfortable with his style of instructions that we are now committed to learn all of the 8 different dances he teaches on DVD. We would never have the opportunity to learn all these by going to a weekly class.

There are other benefits to making a commitment like learning to dance Salsa, to your wife that I won't get into here. I do know that the looks she gives me on the dance floor, when she realizes everyone is watching with envy says it all.

Prevention and relief of carpal tunnel syndrome may be easier than you think. Take a few days off from whatever it is you do that aggravates your condition. This rest period will help, even if it is only a short time. Start some simple wrist exercises that will help stretch the transverse carpal ligament. This will help take the pressure off everything inside the carpal tunnel. You may need to work with a physical therapist to find the perfect stretches for you. Results should be felt almost immediately. Surgery should always be a last resort.

You may find preventing carpal tunnel syndrome is easier than you think it is. With a little bit of effort, you can do exercises and stretches every day that will help make more room for your median nerve and avoid surgery.

Stop trying to gain weight to get big muscles. There is no need to bulk up instead develop the size you already have and get those muscles defined not big.

Whether you are man or woman a strong muscular body looks great, but you don't have to have great big bulging muscles to achieve it. The best looking bodies are those that have muscle definition not bulk and size.

It's different of course if you want to compete as a Body Builder as you are going to need size as well as definition. Unfortunately these days you have got to think big, very big muscles if you want to win any competitions. Body Building is a great sport but the average keep fitter does not have to compete with these athletes.

It is normally the men that get tempted to bulk up and go for size, normally concentrating on the arms and chest as their main goals. But the ladies do tend to train things more evenly without wanting to much size.

So the women tend to have it sorted more than the guys who can a times look out of proportion with thin legs, an undeveloped mid section, normal shoulders and a big chest and biceps. This is not a great look.

Think about life as we get older, we slow down and parts of our flesh start wiil to head south. So the less size you have the less that will drop and also the easier it is to keep tight and fit. This may not be a concern yet but it will be one day. So it has got to be better to get your muscles defined and tight rather than to opt for bulky size.

A lean well defined muscular body is definitely the best looking body for both male and female. Although that is only my opinion, if you want size then that is fine, go for it. The one good thing about having a lean body is that it is easier to get that muscle definition, it's also easier to get clothes to fit.

It really is up to the individual, do you want to train with heavy heavy weights with low reps to get those massive muscles or would you rather be doing more repetitions with the weights being lighter and get the fat hiding those muscles burnt off to show off the ultimate ripped body.

INTRODUCTION: ADHD is a common behavioral problem that affects an estimated 8% to 10% of children of school-age and stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It is a medical problem that affects how well someone can sit still, concentrate, and pay attention and used to be known as attention deficit disorder (ADD).

ADHD has no known cure, but it can be successfully controlled. This condition is not caused by poor parenting, excessive sugar, or vaccines, But has biological origins that are not as yet clearly understood.

SYMPTOMS: Appear over a period of many months, and include Impulsiveness ( a child who acts quickly without thinking first) and also include excessive worrying, fear, or panic, which can lead to physical symptoms such as a speeding heart, sweating, stomach pains, and diarrhea.

Such symptoms frequently get better as children become older and learn to adjust, But although some may "grow out of" their symptoms, more than 1/2 of all kids who have the disorder will continue to show signs of the problem as young adults. The good news is, with proper treatment, children can learn to successfully live with and control their symptoms.

TEST: Because there's no test that can determine the presence of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, a diagnosis depends on a total and complete evaluation. Your child's physician may also perform a physical exam as well as tests to check hearing and vision so other medical problems can be ruled out. A definite diagnosis is hard because there are no tests that consistently detect this disorder.

Very few parents are surprised when the results of a doctor administered Attention Deficit Disorder test return with a positive diagnosis of their child having the Disorder. They already suspect a hyperactivity or attentional problem or they would not be in the physician's office asking for an ADHD test in the first place. The greatest problem with such a test is that diagnosis is purely subjective and frequently depends on the tolerance of the observer.

TREATMENT: Effective treatments for ADHD are available, and include behavioral therapy and drugs. Ultimately, the primary care physician gathers the information, makes the diagnosis, and starts treatment. Some treatments work better than others at addressing specific combinations of symptoms. Any good treatment plan will require close follow-up and monitoring, and your child's physician may make adjustments along the way. When devising the correct treatment for your child, the physician might try various medications in various amounts, especially if your child is being treated for ADHD along with another disorder. Your child's physician may recommend additional treatments and interventions depending on your child's symptoms and needs.

A number of alternative therapies are promoted and tried by parents including: megavitamins, body treatments, diet manipulation, allergy treatment, chiropractic treatment, attention training, visual training, and traditional one-on-one "talking" psychotherapy, But scientific research has not found them to be effective, and most of these treatments have not been studied carefully, if at all.

Anti-depressants are sometimes a treatment choice; However, in 2004 the FDA issued a warning that these medicines may lead to a rare increased risk of suicide in children and teens. Since it's important for parents to actively participate in their child's treatment plan, parental education is also considered an important part of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder management. For specific medical advice, diagnoses, and treatment, see your physician.

CONCLUSION: ADHD is a real condition that starts in childhood, is more often found in boys than girls, and it affects 8%-10% of school-age children in the USA. It must be diagnosed by a doctor who specializes in these kinds of disorders in cooperation with parents and teachers.

Teachers should develop abbreviated assignments or provide longer time for children with ADHD. Although it can often be challenging to raise kids with this problem, it's important to remember they aren't "bad," "acting out," or "being difficult" on purpose. INTRODUCTION: Head lice (Pediculus capitis) are tiny parasitic insects well adapted to living mostly on the scalp and neck hairs of human host. These are mainly gotten by direct head-to-head contact with an infested person's hair, but may on rare occasions be transferred with shared combs, hats and other hair accessories.

They get their nutrients by blood-feeding once or twice a day, and cannot live for more than a day or so at room temperature without free access to human blood. These parasites can survive up to thirty days on a human holding on to hair with hook-like claws found at the end of each of their six legs. They are rarely found on the body, eyelashes, or eyebrows and rarely (if ever) create direct harm, or transmit infectious agents from person-to-person. Head lice are equal opportunity parasites that do not respect socio-economic class distinctions and can infest people at any age, but children are more apt to infestations because of their habit of playing in near contact, sharing hats, headphones, combs and brushes, sleeping bags, stuffed animals, and clothing.

NITS: Head lice eggs are called nits and are laid by the adult female at the base of the hair shaft nearest the scalp and look sort of like dandruff, only they can't be removed by brushing or shaking them off. The eggs hatch about 7 to 11 days after being laid. Those further than 1/4 inch away from the scalp have probably already hatched. Nits are most effectively removed by combing the hair with a specially designed nit comb. The eggs can be distinguished from dandruff flakes as they are extremely adherent to the hair shaft, whereas dandruff can be easily moved along the hair shaft.

INFESTATION: Contact with an already infested person is the most usual way to acquire head lice. Less frequently, Wearing clothing, such as hats, scarves, coats, sports uniforms, or hair ribbons, recently worn by an infested person. There are four crucial steps to controlling an infestation: the use of an effective head louse medication; nit removal from the head (combing); removal of lice and nits from the household environment by vacuuming, washing, or freezing objects suspected of infestation; and daily head inspections and nit removal until infestation is gone, followed by weekly head checks to detect re-infestation. The physician should be able to inform you if your child is infested with lice and needs to be treated.

TREATMENT: Treatment should be considered ONLY when active lice or viable eggs are found. A treatment can create significant side effects in children younger than six months old, the elderly, and any person weighing less than 110 lbs (50 kg), especially when it is used repeatedly over a short period of time. If your child is 2 years old or less, you should not use medicated treatments. Your child's physician may recommend repeating treatment in 7 to 10 days to make sure all the nits have been killed and to avoid any chance of reinfestation. Treatments can be over-the-counter or prescription medications, depending on what has already been tried. It isn't rare for treatments to be unsuccessful because of incorrect use or because the lice may be resistant to the chemical in the shampoo. Following the directions on the product label is also important to ensure that the it works correctly.

Medicated shampoos can usually kill the lice and nits, but it may take a few days for the itching to cease. Some do nots include: Don't use a hair dryer on your child's hair after applying any of the currently available hair shampoos, because some contain flammable components. Don't wash your child's hair for 1 to 2 days after using a medicated shampoo. Be patient and follow the protocol and preventative tips as directed by your child's MD for keeping the creatures at bay, and you'll be well on your way to keeping your family free of lice.

If you feel like you're following every recommendation and your child still has lice, it might be for one or more of the following reasons: there are still some nits left behind, your child is still being exposed to a person with lice, the shampoo you're using isn't effective. If your child still has lice for two weeks after you started treatment or if your child's scalp appears infected (with pus or sores), call your child's physician. Vacuuming the carpets, upholstery, and car seats will get rid of any lice that fell off before treatment.

CONCLUSION: Head lice infect hair on the head and are more common in close, overcrowded living conditions. Infestation causes intense itching, but does not lead to a serious medical problem. They can be spread when infested hair brushes or combs are shared or when infested bedding, towels or shower caps are shared. Head lice is an increasing problem because lice-killing medicines are becoming less effective. Each year, between 6 and 12 million people worldwide become infested. Children ages 3-11 and their families become infested most often. Pets are of no significance in transmitting human lice, and should not be treated.

In one study, the estimated annual cost of infestations in the United States was nearly $1 billion dollars. Girls contract head lice more often than boys; women more often than men. Anyone can become infested and the presence of head lice is not the result of unclean conditions. Although it can be challenging to eliminate, you must be patient and persistent when dealing with an infestation.

The acai berry needs no introduction and is something that has a fan following in its own stride. It is then of no surprise that there are some popular celebrities who also follow the acai berry diet.

Probably the first celebrity who started the entire craze was Oprah Winfrey. She featured the acai berry diet review on her show and rated it as the number one super fruit on her list. On her show, Oprah had Dr. Perricone talk about the acai berries and how she used it to cut down on her weight as well.

Once the floodgates were opened by Oprah, more celebrities soon started to talk about acai berry and offer acai berry diet information. It was soon featured by Barbara Walters of 20/20, Rachel Ray, CNN, CBS and Fox News. Once it gained adequate fame, more celebrities started claiming to have used it at some point to help with the weight loss.

In addition to being on mainstream media, acai berry diet is also supported by the likes of Brad Pitt, Owen Wilson, Denise Richards and surfing legend Kelly Slater as well.

Brad Pitt started using acai berry to help with the fat loss for his movie "Burn After Reading". It was suggested by his personal trainer and helped him lose close to twenty pounds to get into shape for the movie.

Ever since Denise Richards was spotted drinking the acai berry in the juice form, more female celebrities started openly supporting the exotic acai berry as well. Analyzing an Attacker!

A trained martial artist will be aware of how the attacker is holding his body, even if a fight is a frantic affair from the outset, and what his positioning means. This article details my thought evolution when I formulated a plan for handling attackers. What is nice is that it is workable in freestyle, so you don't have to go out and find a mugger to see if it works.

One of the earliest things I learned, concerning how to size up an opponent, was how he moved when you made a quick move towards him. If he moved back he was a runner, if he blocked he was a blocker, and if he moved towards you he was a fighter, or a jammer. This theory came to me through kenpo, was put forth by Joe Lewis, and supposedly was originated by Bruce Lee.

I came up with my own observations in this matter, as time passed. My observations were not based the fact that you have wasted a motion if you have feinted towards an opponent to make a response, and if he is not wasting motion you're already in a fight. I realized that I better just get on with analyzing the attacker because the fight was already started

First, I began to dissect such factors as speed and mass. If he was strong and chunky, he would be more likely to close and grapple, and if he was quick and lean he would be looking for speed and striking. And, of course, there wasn't much value in this general an analysis.

So I began to isolate whether he was right handed or left handed by asking myself which hand was forward. This told me where the power was coming from, and even what angle, and so was much better. Still, there was only about a ten per cent gain in my overall knowledge, and this certainly wasn't enough to give me the kind of edge I wanted in a fight.

Still, knowing which hand he was attacking with let me know whether he was setting up for a kick. I began to judge potential distances, and what effect this had on an opponent, and how I should angle my attack. The real key to all this was whether he shifted to free up a leg for kicking.

The importance of the positioning of the feet and the hands became crucial to my analysis, and this led me to view the body in halves. I would view it as two pieces, the right and the left, and estimate from the angle of his body, what what angle he would take on the attack, and what angle I should take on the response. This analysis was gold, and it drove my effectiveness up by as much as 70%.

Fighting always holds a bit of mystery. Still, if you analyze the body in halves, up and down and side to side, you're going to have a distinct plan that will reduce much of the mystery.
