If you go out hiking and you take the digital camera and your GPS data logger, then you can actually come up with the location where you took the image. Of course this does depend on whether or not the time and date on the camera was right.
In Security and Asset Tracking A GPS logger is often used for security and asset tracking. They can be used to keep track of pets so that the owner knows where the pet goes each day. Some parents even put these devices on their children or on their vehicles so they know where they go. Many times these devices are used for private investigations and other types of security that may require tracking an asset.
