by Nita McKinney

Before a certain football game begins, especially in various college or high school events, it is usual for a particular team to make a football run through while entering the arena. It is often the responsibility of the cheerleaders and their mascots to hold it on both ends while the whole team is running their way through it. This is often an act that is done to intimidate and surprise the opponents and particularly, it brings along a certain design that is essential for them.

The mascot or the name of a certain team is often drawn in the banner. It will act as a symbol for them to reveal who they really are. Additional effects might be added by simply having each member sign in it. This will somehow represent a certain sense of pride and will tell the crowd who they are as a team.

Brick walls may be an interesting and great idea to be drawn in it. It designate a particular level of strength or conviction that is essential for every member in order to win a game. Drawing a few dozens of bricks might seem so redundant, but if you only add some details into the dimensions of each block, it will increase the quality and efficiency of the creativity of the crowd.

A motto or a quote can be used to attribute a specific sport in general. Choose a quote which may indicate your name. Choose the motto that would have an effect on the energy of the crowd. Also, consider drawing all the letters in alternating colors of your team.

In making such, consider all the details that will be placed including the logo, graphics and wordings. The standard one is up to three meters wide and two meters high. Therefore, you will need a greater space in order to make it. Always remember that it should have the sufficient width to allow multiple players to pass through it at the same time.

Always pick a paper that allows you to use markers and paint. Check whether it would tear off well so that it would not block the athletes that are passing through it. Use two poles and place it in each end so that you could have something to grip in stretching it. Heavy cardboard tubes, PVC and wood are advised and attach it carefully by using heavy duty masking tapes. PVC is widely used by some people because it can be cleaned easily, durable and has a light weight.

In selecting the paper to be used, it would be better to purchase many. This would be used to perform test run to ensure that it could tear easily. If the paper fails to tear, or the poles will fall in the path as the players run through, there would be bigger possibility of incurring injuries.

Place it across a certain opening where a team would pass. Excellent places will be at the gates or at the entrance of the field where the game would be held. Hold it firmly to prevent the poles from being pulled towards the paper as it tears.

Do not use a long strip of tape along the width of your football run through banner because players might not be able to go into it. Also, leave some slits or flaps where wind can blow onto it or else, it will look like a parachute when you unfurl it on a windy ground.
