Why A Musto Riding Coat Keeps You Dry

Why A Musto Riding Coat Keeps You Dry

by Eula Nichols

Equestrians all over the country are raving about the excellent performance of their Musto riding coat. These brilliantly designed coats have been created with the great outdoors in mind. In fact the company was founded back in 1964 by Keith Musto an avid sailor. He and his contemporaries were tired of having to sail and race in soaking wet clothing.

After spending months trying to find a company that was interested in making water proof clothing for sailors, Keith decided to take matters into his own hands and founded his own company. Initially the new jackets, hats and trousers were designed with the needs or sailors in mind. But it didn't take long for the Keith and the company to realise that the horse world was just as much in need of a whole new range of water proof clothing as they were.

Musto technological is particularly effective because it was first designed for use by sailors. The founder of the company, Keith Musto was an avid sailor who quickly became tired of being cold and wet every time he went out on the water. Keith thought that it must be possible to develop a range of wind and water resistant clothing that would make outdoor sports more comfortable. Eventually he went on to found his own company and his lines of riding and sailing clothes are now world famous.

The company has teamed up with Olympic rider Zara Phillips to produce a wonderful range of riding coats and gilets. These provide the opportunity for layering so that one jacket can be used for all seasons. Simply adding an extra layer underneath in the very coldest weather adds warmth but not bulk. It is still easy to ride even in the depths of winter.

The ZP 176 line is a top seller with equestrians. It features a number of innovative technologies to help keep the rider warm and dry. All seams are taped to ensure a completely waterproof jacket. The moisture control layer actually works by drawing the dampness away from the riders body and forcing it out through the fabric. This helps a hard working rider stay warm, but dry. Even when they are riding indoors it is easy to work up a sweat and the breathable fabric is a huge bonus.

One of the best sellers of the range is the practical and stylish Grooms Jacket. Retailing at around one hundred pounds this jacket is available in a rang of sizes. It is shower proof, breathable and wind proof. The full zipper makes it quick and easy to get on and off. It is also light weight and easy to keep clean.

The Warm Up Jacket is also breathable, but adds an extra layer of protection. It is water proof and also incorporates four way stretch and is perfect for the active rider. It can be teamed with an additional liner layer for cold weather riding. It is available in sizes eight to eighteen.

A Musto riding coat is an excellent investment that will last for years. There are plenty of local tack stores that carry the products. Alternatively it is very easy to buy a new jacket on line and have it shipped to the buyer's home. Orders over one hundred pounds are often shipped free of charge.
