Gymnastics in Delaware involves a lot of physical and vigorous exercises that entails the use of agility, power, flexibility, power, coordination and balance; it is regarded as a type of sport worldwide. This sport like all other popular sports is governed by an international body that is run by experts in this field. Every state however has its own rules regarding the sport.

Different categories exist in this particular sport and include; women artistic gymnastics, group and acrobatic. Each category has their number events. These events are; vaults, uneven beams, balance beam, floor exercise, high bar, parallel bar and pommel horse.

Female athletes are also known to take part in such events; the fact that there is no bias on who can take part in has seen young girls also take part. The Olympics however dictates that the age limit for athletes is sixteen years and above. The events performed in this category are only four and the participants are required to have outstanding psychological ability in order to handle the pressure in performing risky tricks.

Men competition is more intense that the female one. Males may start young to practice this sport, but not as young as women because boys need to reach puberty in order to develop the strength required. The age required for one to become a professional who can participate in an Olympics event is the same as the age required in the female event; sixteen. Male participants compete in six events.

Rhythmic performance requires the participants to manipulate ballet and dance moves. Performances involved are jumps, leaps and tosses using apparatus such as ropes, ribbons, hoops and balls. Athletes can participate in groups or as individuals; this is a woman-only sport.

Trampoline is an event for both men and women. Athletes are required to take part in high-flying flips on each bounce, also there are some compulsory performances required for each participant. At advanced stages the athletes may perform in pairs at the same time and in synchronized fashion.

Tumbling is not an Olympic event yet, but it is performed international. The athletes in this category perform on a spring board that bounces. Here participants are needed to do very complicated twists and flips because of the bouncing surface. It is compulsory for athletes to perform two passes at each stage with eight elements included in every pass.

Acrobatics is unique from the other types in that the participants are regarded as the equipment. They perform in pairs of twos to fours; they do handstands, balances and holds on each other. The pairing may be all men, all women or a mix in gender; it is also not an Olympic event yet.

The final category in this sport is the team or group gymnastics in Delaware. The athletes can range from six to sixteen participants and like acrobatics; gender is not restricted here too. The events involved in team gym include mini trampoline, vault, floor and tumbling. Group gymnastics is recognized international but it has not yet been included in the events at the Olympics.
